Audio Visual Project Engineer

Job Description:

The Audio Visual Project Engineer (a new position within the AV Implementation Division as a post sales engineer), will report to and work directly under the Director of Post Sales Engineering. The Audio Visual Project Engineer will work on all aspects of AV project engineering once an order is received for a project as follows:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review new projects and immediately identify key requirements to ensure project success
  • Review project budged and confirm the project is properly sold / planned
  • Properly identify when value engineering a solution will be effective and profitable
  • Review equipment list and immediately identify new equipment or potentially complex
  • solutions that require additional R&D or perhaps more complex staging
  • Hold weekly project meetings with the project team that is assigned (PM, Programmer, AV
  • Quality Assurance Manager, Director of Post Sales Engineering, etc.)
  • Identify deliverables required for successful deployment
  • Generate and issue full construction drawing sets while leveraging pre sales data and IVCI
  • standards
  • Generate and issue all post PO change orders required for the project
  • Review, communicate, clarify any scope of work issues with the team and in some cases with
  • the Sales Engineer / Sales Rep / Account Manager
  • Be intimately responsible for all aspects of all projects assigned
  • Create and issue DSP files for audio systems as required
  • Support the team during in-house system staging as well as during deployment, and onsite
  • system certification
  • R&D new products / solutions as needed to support business needs
  • Provide feedback to Sales Engineers on all aspects of project issues as needed (i.e. pricing of
  • labor, use of certain equipment, etc.)

Experience/Skills Required:

  • Must have at least 5 years of direct hands on AV integration experience either as a lead
  • technician, field engineer, project engineer or control systems programmer
  • CTS certification is required and CTS-I is preferred
  • Other manufacturer certifications preferred (Crestron, AMX, Extron, Polycom, Tandberg / Cisco,
  • etc.)
  • Knowledge of IVCi Standards in Audio Visual System Design and Integration
  • Must be a self-motivator with strong attention to details
  • Possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to effectively multitask and work on multiple projects at a time
  • Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have excellent understanding and as much training / experience in the following areas:
    • Audio re-enforcement and acoustics
    • DSP configuration (primarily, Clear One, Biamp, Polycom)
    • Control system deployments (configurations, wiring)
    • Architectural, electrical, and AV drawing standards and best practices
    • Video distribution standards and best practices
    • Power distribution and balancing
    • Conduit sizing
  • Must have a minimum of a basic understanding in the following areas:
    • Networking (Hardware, VLANS, Wi-Fi, wiring)
    • CAD Drafting or the ability to learn basic drafting techniques
    • Heat load management
    • Architectural solutions for connectivity of various devices

Other Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Support existing process and implementation of projects while in transition to a new business
  • model
  • Support other team members on various technical levels as needed
  • Properly use project tools and systems to allow for measuring of performance such as
  • budgeting, workload measuring, etc.
  • Estimated up to 20% travel to client or other IVCI locations. Travel may include travel outside
  • the base office region (overnight travel).
  • Identify training needs and keep up with industry standards through internal / external training
  • and through self-motivation and dedication
  • Handle technical or non-technical issues with courtesy and professionalism and maintain a
  • positive attitude at all times
  • Interact with the Sales team, the Sales Engineering team, and/or consultants to ensure the
  • success of the project as needed
  • Provide feedback to Sales Engineering in regards to complex issues, new hardware, labor
  • estimates, etc. to support a constant learning environment
  • Receive and properly distribute technical feedback from other team members
