Audio Visual Commissioning Technician

Job Description:
The Audio Visual Commissioning Technician (a new position within the AV Implementation Division), will report to and work directly under the Sr. AV Director of Implementation & AV Director of Engineering. The Audio Visual Commissioning Technician will work on all aspects of AV project implementation focused on the quality and efficiency of every project scheduled for installation as follows:
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in project meetings hosted by the Audio Visual Project Engineer
- Participate in project meetings as requested by the project manager or the client
- Interact with clients, general contractors, electrical contractors, etc.
- Review implementation plans with project managers and / or installation technicians
- Fully stage and certify all aspects of an AV system to be deployed (in house or in the field)
- QC and approve all aspects of fabrication
- QC and approve all aspects of cable management throughout the job
- QC and approve all aspects of control system programming
- QC and approve all aspects of field device mounting
- QC and approve all aspects of site cleanliness upon completion
- Fine tune and perform final audio / video / network configurations for installed systems
- Troubleshoot all technical aspects of a system as needed
- Create / manage control system punch list and work directly with the programming department
- Work directly with the project engineer as needed
- Conduct internal and external sign off on final system implementation
- Conduct end user training as specified by the contract
- Create / maintain / and update all aspects of system “mark-ups” (i.e. drawing red lines, latest DSP files, latest control system files, latest punch list items, etc.)
- Create and issue final system user manuals
- Promptly report all project status to the project manager
- R&D new products / solutions as needed to support business needs
- Provide feedback to Project Engineers on all aspects of project issues as needed (i.e. drawings, use of certain equipment, etc.)
- Enforce the scope of work
Experience/Skills Required:
- Must have at least 5 years of direct hands on AV integration experience either as a lead technician, field engineer, project engineer or control systems programmer
- CTS certification is required and CTS-I is preferred (or must earn CTS-I within the first 6 months)
- Other manufacturer certifications preferred (Crestron, AMX, Extron, Polycom, Tandberg / Cisco, etc.)
- Strong Knowledge of Standards in Audio Visual System Design and Integration
- Must be a self-motivator with strong attention to details
- Possess excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must have excellent understanding and as much training / experience in the following areas:
- Audio re-enforcement and acoustics
- DSP configuration (primarily, Clear One, Biamp, Polycom)
- Control system deployments (configurations, wiring)
- Video distribution standards and best practices
- Power distribution and balancing
- Commercial construction methods such as ceiling deck construction, wall framing, structural support, etc.
- Must be a team leader and possess excellent leadership qualities to support a team in all phases of a given project
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
- Support existing process and implementation of projects while in transition to a new business model
- Support other team members on various technical levels as needed
- Support high technical level helpdesk calls remotely or onsite
- Properly use project tools and systems to allow for measuring of performance such as budgeting, workload measuring, etc.
- Estimated 50% or more travel to client or other IVCI locations. Travel may include travel outside the base office region (overnight travel)
- Identify training needs and keep up with industry standards through internal / external training and through self-motivation and dedication
- Handle technical or non-technical issues with courtesy and professionalism and maintain a positive attitude at all times
