Now in its forth year, The Mobile World Congress is a three day event that focuses on the “mobile” industry. It’s initial focus was on cellular technology, originally being called GSM Mobile World Congress. The event has now expanded its focus to encompass all areas of mobility and communications. Polycom recently entered into a strategic partnership with IBM (IBM) to incorporate its popular RealPresence video solutions technology with IBM’s interactive application called IBM Sametime and IBM Connections. According to a recent study by Polycom, more teachers are aware of the power of video conferencing technology and an increasing number want to use it to enhance communication. More than three-quarters of British teachers would like access to video conferencing technology so they can have digital meetings with pupils, their parents and colleagues when face-to-face meetings are not possible. Polycom today unveiled a new video conferencing application, RealPresence Mobile, that will run on the iPad 2 and Android tablets. The app runs on Polycom’s RealPresence platform, which runs its standard videoconferencing rooms and terminals that include larger high-definition televisions and speaker systems.
