IVCi Announces Richard Blackwell as New Chief Technical Officer

BAY SHORE, New York – January 20, 1999 – International Video-Conferencing, Inc. (IVCi), a leading integrator of video conferencing and audio/visual solutions, today announced the addition of Richard Blackwell as the company’s new Chief Technology Officer and also as a member of the company’s board of directors.

Blackwell has been involved in the video conferencing industry for almost a decade, and was most recently the Director Of New Product Development for VCON, Inc., a leading manufacturer of desktop and roll-about video conferencing solutions. While at VCON, he was responsible for the development of the MediaConnect 8000TM, a PC-centric roll-about system that was awarded an “Editor’s Choice” honor by Computer Telephony magazine in June of 1998, and then “Product Of The Year” again by Computer Telephony magazine in December of the same year.

Blackwell also served as the Chairperson of the H.323 committee at Telecon-98 last October, and has written numerous articles for video conferencing and audio/visual trade magazines over the last ten years. Before working at VCON, Blackwell ran a consulting and development firm that performed software and product development for such leading video conferencing manufacturers as Zydacron and CLI, and also designed custom audio/visual and home-automation solutions for commercial and consumer applications

“Richard Blackwell’s in-depth experience in the video conferencing and audio/visual industry makes him an excellent choice to serve as IVCi’s Chief Technology Officer,” said Robert Swing, Vice President of sales for IVCi. “As we continue to move closer to completely integrated TCP/IP-based video conferencing solutions for our customers, Richard will provide us with the knowledge and experience we need to become a leader within the H.323 environment. The days of ISDN—only video conferencing products is quickly coming to an end, and the company who is positioned strategically, with the appropriate knowledge-base and product-set, will quickly emerge as the leader in this new phase of video conferencing integration.”
