STARBAK has created innovative streaming video engines that deliver Windows Media Technology and RTSP video streams and run under UNIX variants including Linux. What makes STARBAK's software architecture unique? Simply put, it is extremly efficient with a small footprint, modular design, and common data store and user interface. STARBAK is committed to providing unique, high-performance, cost-effective solutions for content delivery networks, service providers, and the corporate enterprise.
One significant drawback in deploying scalable, easy to use video and streaming applications is in the complexity and cost associated with content creation in the first place.
While some high-end applications may require studio quality video with extensive post production techniques, the vast majority of users would benefit from a simple, easy to use content capture device to be used as a content publishing point for general purpose users.
It is with this purpose that STARBAK has built two content create devices to eliminate cost and complexity barriers while allowing efficient content creation by common users.
The Torrent CEA is a network accessible Windows Media “content encoding appliance”. The CEA is used to simplify the content capture and publishing process and can be used with the Torrent OSA “delivery” product to make this content immediately accessible to a broad user base over IP networks.
The Torrent VCG is a Video Conferencing to Streaming Media Gateway device. The VCG can extend the reach and time of video conferences by making the content instantly available over the internet.
The VCG can convert a video conferencing end point into a content publishing tool allowing organizations to maximize investments into video conferencing and data communications infrastructure.
As video/streaming based applications grow, more devices may be used to overcome network bandwidth bottlenecks or expense. An ideal solution should provide for a natural growth path scaling from a limited prototype environment to a global, mission critical delivery network. This introduces several potential management challenges that are easily addressed by the Torrent VSM management platform.
The Torrent VSM system is a virtual services manager that allows all management functions to be performed by an authorized administrator through a secure connection using a standard web browser.
In addition to the administrative capabilities, the Torrent VSM also provides a robust, easy to use content portal whereby content consumers can quickly identify and access the desired content.
As successful video and streaming applications gain momentum, the increased user demand may eventually contribute to network congestion and impact user quality of service. This can easily be addressed by deploying STARBAK “delivery” appliances at appropriate points within the network.
The Torrent OSA is a streaming origin server appliance. As a secured appliance—the OSA offers streaming media server capabilities without being susceptible to Windows security breaches.
The Torrent SDA is a stream delivery appliance that is used to optimize the quality and cost to deliver video streaming and large files to users.
